Energy-saving extravaganza at Tempelhof-Kreuzberg local court in Berlin

Over a hundred people turned up to an energy saving extravaganza at the Tempelhof-Kreuzberg local court in Berlin to enjoy a banquet of food, good company and engaging exhibitions.

On July 8th 2016, the district court energy team in Berlin invited all their staff to attend their “Energie tanken, zum Energie sparen” (Recharge energy, to save energy) courtyard festival as part of the Save@Work project. To open the event, Dr. Christian Kunz, the local court president, delivered a speech stressing the importance of a motivated staff force when achieving energy saving goals in the workplace. Following this, everyone was invited to help themselves to the BBQ and the delicious spread of home-made food available whilst browsing a variety of information stands on energy saving and how to lead an environmentally friendly lifestyle.

Some of these exhibits included a waste-bike illustrating how best to recycle (Friends of the Earth), a display of e-bikes to test-out, and an information stand by the customer advice centre offering guidance on saving energy at home as well as at work. The travelling exhibition “we are all witnesses” was also set up in the building, which displayed the impacts of climate change on people in Africa, South America, Asia as well as Europe.

There was also an arts and crafts corner for the little ones which provided a space for the kids to showcase their creative flair. A thermometer in the shape of a butterfly or a giraffe can not only  help to maintain an adequate indoor temperature but can also look great!

To round off the day, there was the announcement of the energy quiz winner who received a stash of energy-saving goodies and gadgets.

A great example of a successful energy-themed event, being both fun and informative, hosted by the dedicated energy team at Tempelhof-Kreuzberg local court. Why don’t you have a go at putting on your own?
